Starion Financial promotes Dan Staller to Fargo market president
Dan Staller has accepted the position of president of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo market for Starion Financial. He will report to Executive Vice President Jeff Thomas, who will supervise overall business banking operations for Starion.
As market president, Staller’s primary responsibility will be managing and growing the bank’s commercial banking portfolio in Fargo which includes over $100 million in assets. He will supervise the business banking staff at Starion’s Urban Plains location to help them provide financing, leasing, e-banking and cash management services to businesses and agricultural producers.
He will also ensure overall profitability for Starion Financial in Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo as well as delivery of the company’s other services, including consumer banking, mortgage, insurance and investments.
Staller joined Starion Financial when the company entered the Fargo market in 2008. He was promoted to a supervisory role of the Fargo business banking team last spring.
He has 16 years of banking experience as a credit analyst, commercial lender and manager in North Dakota and Minnesota. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
He serves on the board of directors for the local chapter of Junior Achievement and volunteers with the United Way and the YMCA of Cass and Clay counties.
Thomas will transfer his duties as market president to oversee business banking in all nine markets where Starion operates in North Dakota and Wisconsin.
Thomas was the first Fargo market president for Starion Financial, joining the company when it expanded into the community in 2008. He is a member of the company’s management and executive committees and was promoted to executive vice president in 2010.
He is a long-time executive with more than 24 years of local banking experience. Prior to joining Starion Financial, he was a regional retail banking president of North Dakota and northwest Minnesota as well as a bank president in Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo.
He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and an honors graduate of the American Banking Association’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Thomas is past chairman of the board of the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the board of the American Diabetes Association.
