Starion Financial celebrates 25 years
Starion Financial has been serving Bismarck-Mandan for 25 years and is celebrating by giving back.
When Starion Financial began in Oakes, N.D., in 1969, the bank’s assets were $5 million. Upon entering the Bismarck-Mandan market in 1989, assets were $65 million. Today it is a $1 billion family-owned community bank and financial services organization with 14 branches in North Dakota and Wisconsin. Much of that growth is attributable to the Bismarck-Mandan community.
“Starion Financial has always been, and will continue to be, a community bank with decisions made locally,” says Craig Larson, president/CEO. “When my father got into banking in 1969, he did so because he wanted to be involved in a business that would give him the opportunity to help the community and people. His main priority has always been to help others be successful, whether that is helping finance a business or donating time and money to local organizations. Starion and its communities are partners, and we succeed together.”
As a way of saying thanks, Starion will host free community appreciation picnics at each of the five branch locations the last week in August:
- Monday, Aug. 25: 109 1st Street NW, Mandan
- Tuesday, Aug. 26: 1000 S. Washington Street, Bismarck
- Wednesday, Aug. 27: 2900 N. Washington Street, Bismarck
- Thursday, Aug. 28: 333 N. 4th Street, Bismarck
- Friday, Aug. 29: 1300 Skyline Boulevard, Bismarck
During the picnics and throughout the week, residents can register at any of the branches to win prizes ranging from electronics to a VISA gift card.
In addition to the community appreciation picnics, Starion will also be offering loan and CD rate specials through September 25 and other community outreach events this fall.
